Job description:

SCN Nichols Electric Ltd. is seeking full-time Electrical Apprentices (2nd, 3rd or 4th year) to join our close-knit team. We’re looking for individuals with a positive and respectful attitude, valuing honesty, integrity and pride in their work. They must represent Nichols Electric in a responsible manner: performing their duties to a high standard, maintaining good attendance, conducting themselves professionally (even when off duty) and following company policies and procedures when tackling any problems or issues that arise.

Responsibilities

Dependent on level of experience, Electrical Apprentices will have the following responsibilities and duties:


  • Read and interpret electrical, mechanical and architectural drawings, specifications and applicable codes to determine wiring layouts
  • Cut, thread, bend, assemble and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings
  • Pull wire through conduits and holes in walls and floors
  • Position, maintain and install distribution and control equipment such as switches, relays, circuit breaker panels and fuse enclosures
  • Install, replace, maintain and repair electrical systems and related electrical equipment 
  • Install data cabling
  • Splice, join and connect wire to form circuits 
  • Test circuits to ensure integrity and safety
  • Install, replace, maintain and repair electrical generation sources and related equipment

Requirements

Dependent on level of experience, Electrical Apprentices will have the following skills, education and experience:


  • Provide personal tool pouch and hand tools
  • Have valid Class 5 drivers license
  • Experience operating cordless hand tools (all cordless tools will be provided)
  • Provide apprenticeship blue book upon request
  • Must have a cell phone
  • Residential experience (wiring whole homes/renovations) 
  • Commercial experience (wiring commercial structures, etc.)
  • Industrial experience (installing teck cabling, ladder tray, MCC’s, transformers and distribution equipment, etc.)
  • Agricultural Experience (installing aeration fans, wiring barns, feedlots, grain dryers, etc.)
